On Page OptimizationOn page optimization: is a way of making your site search engine friendly by making your code compliant with search engine standards. This process will not increase your PageRank but will make it easier for search engines to know what your webpage is about. Thus, making it possible for search engines to send targeted traffic to your webpage. The following is a checklist you should run through every time you create a new webpage: File NamesThe file name of a page is taken into account when search engine spider your website. You should therefore always try to use your main keyword in the filename (here: on_page_optimization.php). If you are using dynamic pages you could use mod_rewrite in the .htacces file to rewrite your file names and URLs. Example http://www.seonotion.com/on_page_optimization.php
Title TagsThe page title is what most search engines will show on their search result pages. It is vital that you make extra effort into getting this right and it should not (only) be the websites name.
Is your page title defined and is it containing your main keyword?
Is it short and does it describe the page content correctly?
Preferably 5-8 words. Example <title>SEOnotion- professional SEO company</title>
Meta TagsAlthough most search engines don’t pay much attention to meta tags it is still important to add your meta tags for onpage optimization. Some search engines still use them to display your page in their lists. Try to make them different for every webpage. Is your description defined and is it describing your content? *Preferably a maximum of 25words in your description tag. Are your keywords defined and do they also list misspelling and typos? Are keywords not repeated more than 3 times? Preferably 1-3 main keywords and 1 keyword phrase in your keyword tag. Example: <meta name="keywords" contents="seo company, directory submission, article submission">
<meta name="description" contents="Professional SEO Company offers Link Building and Affordable SEO Services"> <meta name="author" contents="name fo author"> Heading TagsRight after your page title your heading tags are of most importance. Search engines use them to define the importance of your keywords. If you find your heading tags too big and use css to define how they look. Make sure you are using only one <h1> tag.Is your <h1> short and does it contain your main keyword? Preferably your <h1> tag should match your page title. Are your <h2> tags defined and do they contain variations on your keyword? Could you be categorizing even more with <h3> tags?< Have you styled all heading tags using CSS to improve page design? Example: <h1>Onpage Optimization</h1>
<h2>Page Title</h2> <p> The page title is what most search engines...</p> <h2>Mata Tags</h2> <p>Although most search engines don’t pay...</p> Bold and Italic TextsA bold or italic word has more weight for most search engines. So try and use your main keyword in bold <b> and italic <i>. Please note that the use of <strong> and <em> instead of <b> and <i> does not matter. Google has stated that they treat this code exactly the same. Example: <b>bold</b>
<i>italic</i> Image Alt Tags and NamesSearch engines don’t just look at text they also take images into account. Try to Use Image Alt tags and name images using your main keyword. Example: <img src=’images/onpage_optimization.jpg’ alt=’Onpage Optimization’ />
Promotional CommentsSome search engines, like the Inktomi search engine, read comments in the “<!--" format. If you place a keyword rich paragraph after such a comment at the top of the page this could help keyword weighting and your keyword relevancy. Example: <!-- Onpage Optimization, by optimizing Title Tags, Meta Tags, Heading Tags, Plain Text, Image Alt Tags and Promotional Content is a great way to optimize webpages. By using good value keywords targeted traffic can be sent to the page by a search engine. Onpage Optimization is a technique used for Search Engine Optimization./-->
Keyword AnalysisKeyword Analysis is the starting point and cornerstone of search marketing campaigns Each page should target between two and four keywords directly related to the contents. If you feel the need for more keywords then consider splitting your content into separate pages. The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) should contain keywords, separated by hyphens without being too long, around 128 characters is probably a sensible upper limit for the entire URL. The Title tag should contain the keywords with no stop words but arranged to make sense. Some keyword Analysis tool Content AnalysisContent of your webiste is more important. Goolge loves information. Content of your website must be relavent to your website.Your target keywords often repeate in content of your website. Anchor LinksOne of the most important tags you must use for SEO.
Anchor link
<a href="http://www.seonotion.com/on_page_optimization.php#Anchor Links /> simple link <a href="http://www.seonotion.com/on_page_optimization.php /> Inbound LinksInbound link means any link received by a webpage from another webpage. Inbound link also known as Backlink, incoming links, inlinks, and inward links. Search engines often use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the most important factors for determining that website's search engine ranking. Google's description of their PageRank system, for instance, notes that Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B.[1] Knowledge of this form of search engine rankings has fueled a portion of the SEO industry commonly termed linkspam, where a company attempts to place as many inbound links as possible to their site regardless of the context of the originating site. Check your Back link Click here Out Bound LinksAn outbound-link (OBL) is a link from your website to another website. Outbound links can add value to your site by providing useful information to users without you having to create the content. It is difficult for a single website to be comprehensive about a subject area. At the same time outbound links are a potential jumping off point for users and also provide PageRank for the target page. Some search engines algorithms actually place value on sites with many outbound links. These are dubbed authority or expert sites. Since PageRank is based on the linking structure of the whole web, it is inescapable that if the inbound links of a page influence its PageRank, its outbound links do also have some impact. To illustrate the effects of outbound links, we take a look at a simple example. Google Sitemap CreationThe Sitemaps protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are accessible for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include extra information about each URL: when it was last updated, how frequently it changes, and how vital it is in relation to other URLs in the site. This allows search engines to crawl the site more cleverly. Sitemaps are a URL addition protocol and match robots.txt, a URL exclusion protocol. Google XML sitemaps are sitemaps that are used by several search engines (not just Google) to provide a suggestion point for websites. They are an XML file that includes all the pages of that website in a way that is simple for the search engines to reference and index. Ironically, the XML Sitemap requirement was developed in tandem with Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo!, but nearly all people submit to them as "Google XML Sitemaps". Robot.txtA robots.txt file restricts access to your site by search engine robots that crawl the web. These bots are automated, and before they access pages of a site, they check to see if a robots.txt file exists that prevents them from accessing certain pages.(All respectable robots will respect the directives in a robots.txt file, although some may interpret them differently. However, a robots.txt is not enforceable, and some spammers and other troublemakers may ignore it. For this reason, we recommend password protecting confidential information.) You need a robots.txt file only if your site includes content that you don't want search engines to index. If you want search engines to index everything in your site, you don't need a robots.txt file (not even an empty one) User-agent: *
